While promoting his upcoming movie The Martian, Damon revealed new details about the latest Bourne installment, which the actor is currently shooting in England. Damon explained, “It’s been nine years,” since he shot the last film, however, the 2007 sequel was actually set three years prior. He went on to clarify that Bourne, “hasn’t been seen since 2004,” but accidentally referred to the character as “James Bourne” while doing so. Norton, the audience, and fellow guests erupted in laughter over Damon’s faux pas, leading the actor to joke, “And Jason Bond is fine, too.”
As Gossip Cop reported, it was announced at this time last year that Damon would be returning for another Bourne film. Damon previously starred in 2002’s The Bourne Identity, 2004’s The Bourne Supremacy, and 2007’s The Bourne Ultimatum, but then Jeremy Renner took over the franchise for 2012’s The Bourne Legacy. The currently untitled Bourne sequel is slated to hit theaters on July 29, 2016.
