Matt Damon Refused Ben Affleck’s Offer To Play Robin In Upcoming ‘Batman’ Movie?
Matt Damon did NOT refuse Ben Affleck’s supposed offer for him to co-star as Robin in an upcoming Batman movie, despite a made-up tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively bust this rumor. We’re told it’s “not true.”
Affleck plays Bruce Wayne in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and as Gossip Cop reported, the actor will write, direct and star in a future standalone film focusing on his character. Now, according to Life & Style, Affleck asked his good friend Damon to be Batman’s sidekick Robin in the new superhero movie, but Damon was insulted by the suggestion. A so-called “source” tells the tabloid, “Ben thought he was doing Matt a favor, but Matt was really annoyed.”
The tabloid’s dubious insider goes on to claim that Damon instead proposed he play “Bruce Wayne’s long-lost brother,” but Affleck supposedly “said that was the craziest idea he’s ever heard.” The magazine’s seemingly phony source further alleges that Damon got upset and told Affleck “he isn’t playing his little buddy in a costume movie. He said he’d already played Liberace’s gay lover in Behind the Candelabra and this seems pretty similar.”
Gossip Cop, however, checked in with a rep for Damon, who laughed off the tabloid’s claim before exclusively assuring us it’s “not true.” In fact, Gossip Cop previously busted Life & Style for fabricating a nonexistent argument between the actors over an equally imaginary collaboration, a sequel to Good Will Hunting. Regardless, the two will not be co-starring in a Batman and Robin movie either.
