Martin Sheen Not Running For President of Ireland
11:54 am, August 20th, 2011
Martin Sheen will remain only a fictional president.
The actor, who occupied the Oval Office as Josiah Bartlet on “The West Wing,” has ruled out a bid for the presidency of Ireland, despite a growing Facebook campaign to draft him.
Sheen, who is a citizen of Ireland through his late mother, told reporters in Chicago that he was flattered by the “Martin Sheen for President of Ireland” Facebook group but had absolutely no intentions to run.
Well known for his support of liberal political causes, Sheen and his son Emilio Estevez were being honored in Illinois with the declaration of “Sheen Day” by Governor Pat Quinn.
But it looks like fans will need to watch TV reruns to see Sheen as a head of state.
