It’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and celebrities are taking to social media to celebrate and pay tribute to the iconic civil rights leader. See stars’ tweets and tributes below.

Melissa Joan Hart expressed, “Thank you Reverend Dr Martin Luther King Jr for being a guiding light of love for our country; even 59 years after you went ahead!” Josh Gad wrote, “Reflect on his words today. Heed his warnings. Follow his lead. #MLK.” And Russell Simmons tweeted, “‘The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice.’ – Martin Luther King Jr. #MLKDay.”

President-elect Donald Trump wrote, “Celebrate Martin Luther King Day and all of the many wonderful things that he stood for. Honor him for being the great man that he was!” Bill Gates offered, “Dr Martin Luther King Jr. lived his life serving others. #MLKDay.” “‘The time is always right to do what is right.’ Thank you Dr. King for your eternal leadership, moral challenge and inspiration #MLKDay,” Chelsea Clinton tweeted.

Bill Clinton expressed, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’ – Dr Martin Luther King, Jr. #MLKDay.” Ricky Gervais tweeted, “‘Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor; it must be demanded by the oppressed’ – Martin Luther King, Jr.” Scottie Pippen said, “‘Out of the mountain of despair, a stone of hope.’ #MLKDay.” And Ben Stiller stated, “Respect. Now more than ever. #MLK.”

Jesse Tyler Ferguson said, “Re listening & re reading the words of wisdom & insight of Dr. Martin Luther King feels especially healing this year. Happy #MLKDAY to all!” Neil Patrick Harris cited one of King’s quotes, writing, “I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.” And Leah Remini offered, “Let us honor and remember Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in what we do, in what we teach our children.. everyday.”

Common exclaimed, “Happy Birthday Dr. King!” Alicia Keys noted that Nina Simone’s song “‘Why?’ was written for MLK &it beautifully honors his life’s work. Today more than ever I share the sentiment.” Ciara expressed, “Today We Celebrate You. Thankful For All You’ve Done. #MLK Day.” And Gabrielle Union shared, “The dream requires action. Let us be inspired to take action. No fear good people, never fear. We will fight for freedom together.”
