Martin Freeman Says He Shares Bunk Bed With Maggie Smith & Alan Rickman During SNL Monologue – WATCH VIDEO!
Martin Freeman opened his “SNL” monologue about how all British celebrities hang out together. He noted he was going to go shopping on Sunday with Daniel Radcliffe, and then they were going to join Judy Dench and Harry Styles for tea, before the entire group heads over to Mick Jagger for a sleepover. That’s when Maggie Smith (Kate McKinnon) and Alan Rickman (Alan Rickman) came onstage and talked about how they all share a bunk bed with Freeman (video below).
This marks Freeman’s first time as “SNL” host. His appearance comes just days before the December 17 release of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. In the film, which also stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom, Evangeline Lilly, Ian McKellan and many more, Freeman reprises his role as the hobbit Bilbo Baggins. His character is based on the main protagonist of J.R.R. Tolkien’s novel “The Hobbit.” Freeman also starred in the previous two films, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
While he’s probably best known for those films, Freeman also plays Dr. Watson to Cumberbatch’s Sherlock Holmes on the British series “Sherlock,” and can now be seen in the U.S. on the highly acclaimed FX show “Fargo,” alongside co-stars Billy Bob Thornton, Allison Tolman and Colin Hanks. Earlier this week, Freeman was nominated for a Golden Globe award for Best Performance by an Actor in a TV Miniseries or Movie for his work on “Fargo.”
