REPORT: Mark Ruffalo is The Incredible Hulk in ‘Avengers’

Mark Ruffalo will play The Incredible Hulk in The Avengers, according to a report.

Nothing has been confirmed yet, but it’s a done deal, says Deadline.com.

As Bruce Banner/Hulk, Ruffalo would be taking over for Edward Norton, who played the character in a 2008 film. Eric Bana had the role in 2003.

Joss Whedon is directing the superhero spectacle, scheduled to hit theaters in May 2012.

Back on July 15, Gossip Cop passed along our sources’ assertion that it looked “promising” for Ruffalo  – not the widely rumored Joaquin Phoenix.

Now it appears an official announcement of Ruffalo’s participation could come very soon.
