Bernie Madoff’s Son Commits Suicide on Anniversary of Dad’s Arrest

BREAKING!
Mark Madoff, son of disgraced financier Bernie Madoff, was found dead in his apartment this morning.
He committed suicide.
According to reports, the 46-year-old (at left in this photo) hanged himself from a dog collar attached to a pipe with his 2-year-old child nearby.
Stephanie Madoff, currently in Florida with the couple’s other child, became concerned after receiving worrisome e-mails from her husband.
Madoff’s father-in-law then made the grisly discovery after being sent to the apartment at 158 Mercer Street in Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood.
Madoff’s attorney released this statement:
“Mark Madoff took his own life today. This is a terrible and unnecessary tragedy. Mark was an innocent victim of his father’s monstrous crime who succumbed to two years of unrelenting pressure from false accusations and innuendo. We are all deeply saddened by this shocking turn of events.”
Bernie Madoff was arrested two years ago today for orchestrating a $65 billion Ponzi scheme.
He’s serving a 150-year prison sentence.
Mark and his brother Andrew, who both worked for their father, claim to have had no knowledge of his crimes. This week, however, they were sued by the trustee recovering asset for Madoff’s victims.
