Mark Hood And Celeste Betton “Voice” Battle Video: “Best” In Show’s History
Mark Hood and Celeste Betton had one of the “best” battles in the history of “The Voice” on Monday. Watch below!
The Team Pharrell contestants were tasked with performing “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.” During a rehearsal session, guest advisor Missy Elliott became so moved by their vocals, she started crying. “I just haven’t heard something to move me. You don’t hear that these days,” the rapper told Hood and Betton.
When the rest of the coaches got to experience the amazingness for themselves, they responded by giving a standing ovation. “That was my favorite battle that I’ve ever seen,” Stefani exclaimed afterward. She even told Pharrell, “I do not know what you’re going to do.”
She and Adam Levine were blown away by Hood’s performance style, and the Maroon 5 frontman further told the pair, “You both lit this place up and we all felt every second of it.” Meanwhile, Blake Shelton felt blindsided by Betton, hilariously asking, “Where the hell did she come from?”
He added, “Either one of them could be a star,” before amusingly asking Pharrell, “What are you gonna do, little buddy?” Pharrell acknowledged that when his artists made Missy Elliott cry, he had “never seen anything on this show like that before.” “And today you raised the bar again, I just had to stand up,” he told Betton and Hood, going on to confess, “I made a mistake by putting you guys together because I don’t want to lose either one of you.”
Levine, however, disagreed, pointing out, “I don’t think you did make a mistake because it was one of the best battle rounds we’ve ever had.” But Pharrell still had a decision to make, and going with his “gut,” he named Hood the winner. Stefani whispered that she would “have done the same thing.”
Giving her farewell, Betton tearfully sang a few lines of a gospel song. Shockingly, though, no one stole her. Check out the video below, and tell us what you think!
