Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon Prenup: Huge Money Difference + No Talking Allowed
Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon’s prenuptial agreement reveals some stark differences about where the stars were when they married in 2008. According to TMZ, the prenup indicates that Carey is worth approximately $150 million, while Cannon entered the union with less than $500,000.
The documents reveal that he took out a $470,000 loan to help finance Carey’s $500,000 engagement ring. Of course, Cannon made millions of dollars in the years since on projects like “America’s Got Talent.” The couple, whose divorce petition was secretly filed last month after six years of marriage, has reportedly already hammered out a property settlement agreement.
TMZ reports that the Carey-Cannon prenup also includes a confidentiality clause that requires him to pay her $250,000 if he talks to the media, while she’d be mandated to pay him $500,000 for the same violation.
Friday’s news of Cannon’s divorce filing came one day after Carey announced on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” that she will have a Las Vegas residency at Caesar’s Palace beginning in May. The couple wed in 2008, and welcomed daughter Monroe and son Moroccan in 2011. They began living apart last year. Gossip Cop will have updates as Cannon and Carey’s divorce proceedings continue.
