Mariah Carey Taking Over James Packer’s Movie Producer Job?
Mariah Carey has NOT taken over James Packer’s job as a movie producer, despite a ridiculous tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct this claim. We’re told it’s “false.”
Packer co-owns RatPac-Dune Entertainment with producing partner Brett Ratner, a longtime friend of Carey’s who introduced the now-engaged couple. But according to OK!, Packer has started allowing the singer to make major business decisions for him. A so-called “source” tells the tabloid he “defers to Mariah on projects to greenlight and even who to cast.”
The magazine’s dubious insider further claims Carey convinced her fiance to cast Chris Pine in the upcoming Wonder Woman movie, and he listens to all of her supposed requests because “in his mind, she knows entertainment and what America wants.” But Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the situation, who exclusively tells us Packer hasn’t deferred his decisions to Carey when he already has a team of filmmakers green-lighting movies. We’re told the tabloid’s story is simply “false.”
Unfortunately, we’ve often had to call out OK! for its many inaccurate stories about the singer, so this latest fabrication isn’t a big surprise. Gossip Cop previously corrected the tabloid for falsely claiming Carey was getting a $100,000 makeover before her wedding to Packer. We also debunked the magazine’s bogus story about Carey refusing to sign pictures of herself looking heavy. This latest article about the singer is equally untrue.
