Mariah Carey Cancels Concert One Week Into Las Vegas Residency
Mariah Carey cancelled her Wednesday “#1 To Infinity” show in Las Vegas, one week into her residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. The singer has been struck with bronchitis after performing just three times. The cancellation was very last-minute, and ticket-holders only found out when they arrived at the theater, where a sign read, “Tonight’s performance has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled.”
Carey posted at 9:30 p.m. local time, “Hey guys.. I’ve been fighting bronchitis for the past few days.. almost better but on mandatory vocal rest per doctor’s orders. I’m so sorry to cancel tonight’s show but I promise to make it up to you!!! Love you always, MC.” Gossip Cop has reached out for clarification since Carey promised to “make it up,” while the sign at Caesars Palace noted the cancelled show would “not be rescheduled.”
The singer is slated to perform again on Saturday and Sunday, but it’s unclear whether those shows will also be scrapped. As Gossip Cop has previously reported, Carey’s “#1 To Infinity” show has the singer performing her 18 Billboard Hot 100 #1 hits, including “Hero,” “Touch My Body,” “Fantasy,” “We Belong Together” and “Vision of Love.” The singer has struggled over the last six months while performing. In December, Carey came under fire when she couldn’t hit the high notes while singing live during NBC’s “Christmas in Rockefeller Center.” And in February, Carey was slammed for lip synching (and not very well) at the 2015 Jazz and Blues Festival in Jamaica.
What do you think about Mariah Carey canceling a show after only one week of performing in Las Vegas?
