Mariah Carey NOT Learning British Accent, Despite Report
Mariah Carey has NOT hired a speech therapist to help her perfect a British accent, despite an inaccurate report. Gossip Cop can exclusively bust this claim. We’re told it’s “false.”
According to Life & Style, the singer has hired a personal speech therapist to help her learn the British accent because “she thinks it makes her sound like a princess.” A so-called “source” tells the tabloid, “Mariah is being taught to speak with a very posh accent, and she’s being trained to better articulate her r’s.”
The magazine’s clearly ill-informed source further purports, “She thinks the word ‘bathroom’ is tacky,” adding, “She’s constantly reminding herself to use the word ‘loo’.” The publication, however, warns that Carey “shouldn’t schedule tea time with the royals just yet.” “Her accent sounds Cockney, which definitely isn’t considered posh in the U.K,” concludes the outlet’s tipster.
Well, this story is bloody wrong. A rep close to the singer exclusively assures Gossip Cop the report is completely “false.” Carey has not hired a speech therapist to help perfect a British accent, nor is she intent on learning it so she can sound “like a princess.” The magazine seems to be embellishing this, based on Carey playing around with a British accent on her reality show.
Of course, this is not the first time we have debunked Life & Style for publishing tall tales about the singer. In July, we called out the tabloid for wrongly claiming Carey and James Packer were discussing having a baby. Much like that incorrect report, this latest article is equally untrue.
