CLAIM: Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon Spend $1 Million on Twins

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon‘s twins are getting an early taste of the tabloid treatment – and they haven’t even arrived yet!

Star magazine claims Carey and Cannon “have spent close to $1 million” preparing for their new son and daughter.

A so-called “insider” for Star says, “Mariah’s spent $150,000 alone on their wardrobe. She loves Baby Dior, Armani Junior’s baby line and Escada Baby. She’s addicted!” The mom-to-be is also supposedly hoarding custom-made cribs and strollers.

But that’s not even the most outrageous claim.

“Mariah and Nick equipped the nursery with a $250,000 state-of-the-art Bose stereo system,” alleges the tab’s “insider.”

Wait.

We’re supposed to believe that anyone – even a very wealthy couple – would spend a quarter of a million dollars on a nursery’s sound system?

It sounds like Star decided to put a $1 million price tag on the twins without thinking through what, exactly, Carey and Cannon could possibly spend that much money on for two newborns.

That’s when the mag had to get creative – and totally inaccurate.

A rep for Carey calls the Star story “absurd.”

    it’s quite possible they could have spent that on the twins for the nursery considering twins need two of everything and things are alot more expensive than they were 25-30 years ago. besides the twins could be their only children and Mariah has been in the business her entire adult life so it’s not like their mooching off to lavish their kids in luxury. Mariah has earned the right to be a doting mom after struggling to conceive again after a micarriage at one point thinking she never would so to have it happen again and be twins who are going to be born healthy is a major reason to celebrate. besides she’s already admitted she sings to twins while their in utero to get them used to her voice and show them how dearly mama loves adores & cherishes them. though they aren’t a replacement for the child her and daddy Nick lost at christmas 2008

    I love this couple “Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon” taking or keeping together twins!! I think they will make awesome parents and will do great for these children!!

    Clanbillr I love them as a couple as well and yes they’ll make fabulous parents they’ve always loved kids. Mariah even helped raise her siter Alisons two older sons Sean & Michael
