Marc Anthony, Shannon De Lima Divorce Announcement Made Official
Marc Anthony and Shannon De Lima officially announced their plans to divorce on Sunday. In a joint statement furnished to Gossip Cop, the singer and model say they came to the decision “mutually and amicably” and ask for “privacy during this difficult process.” Exactly one month ago, the couple revealed they had separated.
The statement from De Lima and Anthony reads, “After much consideration, we have mutually and amicably decided to end our two year marriage. We ask for privacy during this difficult process, and no further comments will be made from either one of us about this personal matter.”
As Gossip Cop previously reported in November, Anthony and De Lima split after two years of marriage. The news of their separation came on the heels of Anthony kissing his ex-wife Jennifer Lopez at the Latin Grammy Awards just a few days before. Gossip Cop, however, was reassured the two events were unrelated, and that Anthony’s marriage had already crumbled before the awards show.
Still, we’ve since had to debunk a number of false reports linking the ex-spouses. Earlier in December, Gossip Cop busted Life & Style when it wrongly claimed Lopez and Anthony were back together. Even more absurd was a RadarOnline story that incorrectly alleged the two were getting married and that Lopez and Anthony had a wedding date set. We’re told the two are not reuniting at all.
Anthony’s impending divorce from De Lima marks the end of his third marriage. He first wed Miss Universe Dayanara Torres in 2000. They had two sons together before splitting in 2003. The crooner married Lopez the following year and welcomed twins, Max and Emme, in 2008. Though they separated a couple of years before, Lopez and Anthony’s divorce wasn’t finalized until 2014, not long before he wed De Lima. Anthony also has a daughter from a previous relationship.
