Busting bad dish!

Maksim Chmerkovskiy Fights with DWTS Judge Len Goodman Over Harsh Criticism

VIDEO

Maksim Chmerkovskiy was more ready to rumble than rumba on Monday’s “Dancing with the Stars.”

Having received just 20 out of 30 points for his and partner Hope Solo‘s performance to “Season’s of Love” from Rent, the professional dancer vented after judge Len Goodman told Solo, “I always feel like there is so much there, and for some reason it hasn’t come out… This is your worst dance of the season.”

After Chmerkovskiy strongly disagreed with Goodman, the judge shot back, “I’ve been in this business for 50 years,” to which the professional dancer replied, “Then maybe it’s time to go!”

And it continues even beyond that.

Check out video of the heated exchange below.

They’ve been pretty harsh on her; considering how they soft soap certain other stars.

It’s pretty clear some of the contestants are judged on technique and skill and the ones with less talent are judged on effort.

I can see why Maks snapped back at the judges, but while he was doing it, I cringed in embarrassment. Noting he says will change their scores and Maks may not look good to the viewers at home who are judging. It may backfire on him.

Maks is a conceited fool – regardless of the foibles of DWTS Producers; the fact is the judges are professionals who’s task is to evaluate the relative ballroom dancing skills of the contestants. In that role they deserve respect from the dancers – including Maksim. Hope has not related to her partner, she dances with as much emotion as a brick, and is clearly not comfortable with her partner. No surprise there – Maks thinks every woman should fall over themselves for the opportuniy to get their hands on him, and he can’t get over the fact that Hope – for whatever reason – can’t warm up to that idea. It would be good for Maks, and the show, if he were layed off for a season to think about his manners. No-one is indispensible – not even Len, but I would take Len’s ability to judge fairly any time, over Maks’s.

So, Chaz should have been gone a long time ago – never mind his attempts being brave and all of that rubbish – the program isn’t about judging bravery, it’s about Dancing skills, and Chaz has – let’s face it – NONE! It’s either the Producers or public sympathy that is keeping him there, and neither is valid. So let’s vote Chaz off, then next week we can deal with Hope if she doesn’t smarten up, or kick out our favourite Holywood dyslexic, and so bring it down to the only real competition, between Martinez and the famous? talk show host… what’sername??? No, not Nancy Grace, she should be gone soon too – she seems so afraid that her body might touch Tristan’s that she has to adopt the well-known ‘Christian’ chest slightly forward in order to keep your bellies from touching, posture. I think it has something to do with not conveying any idea of sexuality, and clearly she finds Tristan – as I do – to be a rather pathertic excuse for a Pro of whatever ilk. Such a pity they had to give an older woman – who could have done well fighting off Maks – such a milch-toast kid as an instructor. Perhaps Hope would have taken more of a shine to him – altho’ I suspect she may be struggling with her own sexuality even more than Maks’s… have to agree with the judges and even Mak on that one. OK, has that gotten rid of them all?

Oh yes, and let’s drop the attempts at trying to enhance the manhood of the Kardashian Kid – good grief, I thought we were going to have an Oedipus episode the way things were going during the week with his Mama. Good grief, puhleeze leave off the comments about his masculinity, stop trying to boost his obviously deflated ego in the face of his sisters’ inflaated breasts and behinds, and let the kid dance or depart!

Well are’nt you just full of yourself?

That’s way too much to write about a dancing show.

    And Maks is sexy.

  • Patrich1

Maks is absolutely right! The judges do NOT judge fairly at all. Time for new judges????

  • J88eddy

I can understand Maks getting frustrated, they are hard on the ones that have potential and just praising the bad ones for their effort. Judge them all the same.

i think he did the right thing…he was protecting his partner. as a fellow athlete…when someone criticizes you and says “that was your worst”…that can deflate your ego within seconds…that had to hurt for Hope Solo but thats okay…she’s still one of my favorite US Women Soccer players…come on Hope, you got this

And that is why Maks will never win DWTS.

It has been a kind of freak show since the beginning. I suppose the producers think controversial “stars” bring some sort of edge to the show but I would be more entertained by people who are young, good looking, thin and have some potential for being a dancer. As for the judges it is painful to see and hear them gush about their favorites and criticize the ones they don’t like.

I think the judges who have a favorite give them good scores even when they suck and give the one they dislike lower scores when they danced better

The judges are there to judge the dancer’s skill. If you have it you have it if you don’t be prepared for the judges to tell you so.Notice who the judges favor, they favor the better dancers that are doing a great job, imagine that.I do agree that the judges are harsh at times, especially when it nears the finale.Marc although a great dancer is the one that needs to go.As a pro he should be able to conduct himself as one.I’m sure some of the other pros would like to say a thing or two about the judging of their dances but they don’t.Maybe Marc’s comments were valid but he didn’t need to take it to the length he did.

Maks did not act professionally insulting a master that can dance circles around him, even if he is older. Len has a great eye and Maks’ choreography has been dismal. His best season was with Scary Spice but that was long ago. The dance was Hope wearing an off-the-shoulder ball of yarn with flat shoes walking literally around the stage then falling into Mak’s arms. It was awful. Maybe Mak should take a year off from “his” show. Derek is brilliant at choreography, brilliant. I must say Carey Ann does fawn over Rob and Chaz, two people who are on the show because of their families and having all the Kardasians in the audience screaming out is overly annoying and unfair to the other contestants.

  • Hmmm?

So he’s complaining that the JUDGES are being too JUDGEMENTAL?!

I’m not from the US but I read about this incident, so thought I’d look the footage up.

It’s quite a common thing for people to be marked based on what their potential/what they are believed to be capable of, is considered to be. Some teachers do this when marking, which is why sometimes someone of less ability than you could get an A grade for a piece of work that if you handed it in, would only receive say a B-. These situations tend to rectify in the long run though, as in the final exams everyone is working to the same set standard.

Maks should be terminated! Is a fool to fight back to a Judge, he was trying to justify his inefficiency to train his partner in dancing. He clearly failed in coaching Hope with the best ways to make herself become more effective dancer. The failure is Maks must leave the show!!!

  • Phweston0269

I thought the judges had it right here. There is something kind of Graceless about Hopes dancing. She doesnt so much flow with the music as be pushed around the floor. Its obvious she is trying, but trying doesnt make it so.

  • OJP

Len criticized Hope’s boots. Yes, she should have been consistently dancing on the balls of her feet. Maks should have questioned Len if the men too should wear heels. Maks choreographed the dance, the costume designer should be responsible for the outfit in it’s entirity. In sports, when one questions a call, they question the ref. – so in this case it’s the judge.

I for one am with Maks. The judges pick favorites and have for all these seasons. The voting system should be changed, as having a fan base with phone banks can unjustly win. Similarly Kim Kardashian falsely tweeting last night that she had Justin Bieber’s number that would work for the nest hour – actually being the DWTS phone number for her brother was as more wrong – isn’t that cheating and lying?

Call out the costume designer – Maks dances and teaches well. The Judges can call and use names towards all without repercussions. I think NOT!

    The ratings will increase now.

I just watched this dance again as I missed part of it last night. It certainly deserved more than 20 pts. The outfit prevented the flow you need in a rumba. High heels look sexier than flat boots and the rumba is a sexy dance. It was nice dance and it did not deserve the “worst dance” comment. Len gave Nancy Grace a 9 and great comments and Hope a 6 and this uncalled for nasty comment. Nancy did not dance better than Hope. So I can see how Maks would be upset. The judges are very unconsistent. Lets face it the women who watch this show watch for Maks and Derek (best teacher and choregrapher) and not for Len. Len could leave the show and no one would care. Uncalled and kind of shocking comment by Len for this dance.

  • DianeO

Hope Solo deserves constructive comments from the judges. Len’s that was your “worst dance” is in no way constructive. It is just hurtful and deflating. Discuss the technique issues and what she needs to change. This comment kind of made me upset with Len and I think I will vote for Hope A LOT now. She deserves some fan support and maybe Maks was looking for that. But, Maks needs to step up the choregraphy. Also, she needs to be dressed to her best effect. Derek really know how to make his partner look amazing with his choregraphy. Maks should have put in Hope in a sexier outfit with high heels. Hope also needs to have more deliberate steps and moves that exhibit the dance in question which Maks should concentrate on.
