Maksim Chmerkovskiy: I’m Leaving Dancing with the Stars

Maksim Chmerkovskiy is leaving “Dancing with the Stars.”

The pro dancer says he’ll depart the hit show when his contract runs out at the end of next year.

“What else do I have to do there after 15 seasons?” he tells the New York Post.

He adds, “It makes total sense. The audience can’t expect for me to want to stick around, and the producers can’t expect for me to want to stick around.”

Chmerkovskiy says he plans to pursue opportunities in acting and reality shows.

The dancer says he “loved doing” the ABC competition series, “But to be honest with you, at 32, I am at what-about-me time.”

His feelings are exacerbated when Chmerkovskiy sees the bump the show’s celebrities get from their appearances.

“Essentially, 80% of our job is to give somebody another push in their career,” he tells the Post. “Or we make them into likable characters. But at the end of the day, they go off and they better themselves.”

Chmerkovskiy and Kirstie Alley will re-team for “Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars,” which premieres on Monday.

No great loss, this guy seems like an ass. He always seems rude to his partner and definitely gives of the I’m better then you vibe. Also he is only 32? I thought late 30′s for sure. Good luck to him and his reality show plans it’s always great to aim high in life, and reality is always the best way to go isn’t it.

I don’t care, he seems like a jackoff.

Oh, boy… Maks, I’d think this through very carefully. You are a dancer. That’s where your skills lie. I might be wrong, but good looking and hunky only get you so far, particularly if you have an arrogant personality. Again, could be wrong, but I don’t see you making it as an actor. Not your skill set. I think you might end up regretting passing up the regular paycheck. The road from C List to the Z List in Hollywood is short and one-way.

Very well said Jennifer. And you are bang on! I like Maks….but he is an excellent dancer, not a likeable personality. Acting is out definitely I would say and I can’t even imagine how bad he would be on a reality show. Take a chance if you wish, Maks, but I will wish you good-bye as you leave DWTS. I’ll bet I never see you again.
