what a stupid thing to say. rolling stones and other (even older) performers did the same show in recent years. music and performances are NOT about age.
ps. madonna is STLL about this century, man. and she will stay for years to come….

I think that’s exactly what @Jo was saying- the people they have perform were popular years ago and are old. Maybe that’s what the super bowl viewers want though… most of them probably grew up during her popularity period and were fans of hers and are excited about this.

I am personally a college student, and Madonna has never been cool or big to my generation (at least no 20ish or under people I have ever met are huge fans) so I would rather have someone that peaked musically sometime in the last 10 years or so. Someone currently on the Billboard Hot 100 or something like that…

But obviously they can’t please everyone with their pick, and like I said, maybe she is popular with a lot of their older/middle aged viewers…

Because they have no talent?

Black Eyed Peas were AWFUL last year. I felt embarrassed for them.
I don’t want Lady gaga, or katy perry.

I’d love to see Emenim perform at Super Bowl

Madonna, and many of the older, real artists have more talent in their pinky than the newer artists of the past decade all put together. The newer artists can barely sing live. The newer talent mostly depends on props, Pro Tools, lighting and sex cuz they sure can’t sing. They sure wouldn’t want to lean on their singing performance only. Most of the newer talent has been disasterous. Too bad the newer talent can’t lean on their vocals and stage performance rather than theatrics. Madonna is also in better shape, and can out-sing and out-perform most newer talent (such as Katy Perry, Brittany Spears, Taylor Swift, Black Eyed Peas, all the rappers, etc.) Lady Gag (yes, I meant “gag”) has talent, if you can wade thru and stomach all her crap and antics that are mostly nauseating and distracting. Which is why she was NOT considered by the committee. Too bizarre and unpredictable. So all you 20-something’s that want to see someone contemporary at the Super Bowl, pray some real talent is cultivated, rather than the music biz depending solely on theatrics & sex of the younger group who can’t even be called “artists”.

why not metallica? they are celebrateing 30 years as a band this year!

If you really want a real show and show our pride in our Service Men, now and past you should do the show the West VA University did to honor America…..while we love to see our celebrities…..try honoring America….watch You Tube W VA half time show…..get with it Super Bowl…..honor our fallen!

The term “awful” doesn’t adequately describe how bad they were. On the other hand, the Who in 2010 were unbelievably good.
