“Girls Gone Wild” Boss Threatens Madonna with Super Bowl Lawsuit

The Super Bowl might feature a clash involving neither the New York Giants or the New England Patriots.

Joe Francis, the man behind the Girls Gone Wild video series, is threatening to sue Madonna if she sings a song called “Girls Gone Wild” during halftime.

The track appears on the pop queen’s upcoming album.

A lawyer for Francis says “misappropriation” of the “Girls Gone Wild” trademark “will not be tolerated,” according to a cease and desist letter obtained by TMZ.

Francis’ camp threatens to bring litigation against Madonna (as well as the NFL and NBC, labeled “co-conspirators”) if she sings “Girls Gone Wild” on Sunday, thereby “free riding” on the “valuable consumer goodwill and brand recognition” attached to Francis’ product line.

He’s demanding that Madonna negotiate with Francis for licensing and not perform “Girls Gone Wild” at the Super Bowl.

It’s worth noting that in an unconfirmed leaked Super Bowl set list for Madonna, “Girls Gone Wild” does not appear.
