Madonna says she “wasn’t happy” to see recent pictures of her 15-year-old daughter Lourdes smoking, and admits she needs to be a “tougher” mother.

In a “Rock Center with Brian Williams” interview previewed on the “Today” show on Wednesday, the Queen of Pop says she doesn’t “think I’m as tough as I should be.”

“It’s hard; every day is a negotiation,” Madonna notes. “But cigarette smoking I’m not very fond of — for anyone.”

She continues, “I don’t approve of anyone smoking cigarettes — most of all my daughter.”

Of her own smoking in music videos, Madonna says “there’s a difference,” since she uses cigarettes as “an accessory.”

Madonna also says it’s “pretty challenging” to be a “single mom of four” and live her life “in a metaphorical fish bowl.”

“But so far I’ve survived with sanity and humor in tact,” the singer adds.

Maybe a little to late? I shouldn’t be talking because I don’t have any kids, but I do know that as a kid, I was already set in my ways at the age of 15. I hope all turns out ok though, because from what I’ve seen online, her daughter is already headed down the wrong path.

Like mother like daughter. Girls today have seem to have no standards.

Cigarettes are now accessories? I thought purses, earrings and headbands were accessories. So if my daughters ever want to take cigarettes to school as ‘accessories’ I should let them. Gotcha.

It’s different becasue she uses them as an accessory? That is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard. Does she ever stop to think that maybe if she stopped using them as “an accessory” that her daughter may not think it is so cool to smoke. What an idiot.

Meaning she does not smoke around her kids as she’s not an actual smoker, she just has used them in shoots, film, and videos. They’re props. She also has worn whips in her videos, does that mean she goes to pick up her kids with one? There’s a difference between what she does as a artist and what she does as a parent. And please, so many teenagers experiment with cigarettes. I wish people would stop acting so self-righteous acting as if her daughter is so abnormal and out of control.

I didn’t say anything about her daughter. I think it’s irresponsible of her to use cigarettes as an ‘accessory’.
Using a whip as an accessory is just that, using a cigarette is promoting something that is not healthy.
Why am I explaining this to you? Posters like you will just find something wrong with everyone’s explanation of why she’s wrong for doing it.
