Madonna did not have a “melt down” in Australia, despite a new tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct this claim. We’re told the story is “inaccurate.”

According to Star, Madonna was “hitting the bottle on stage” Down Under and “stumble[d] through her performances.” The tabloid tries to tie its untrue claim about Madonna being drunk to her custody battle with Guy Ritchie over their son Rocco. And to bolster its false boozing allegations, the magazine has a family therapist, who has never worked with Madonna, say that during custody battles, it is “not uncommon for some parents to turn to… drugs and alcohol.”

The magazine then notes in captions next to photos of the singer performing that on March 12 “Madge drinks from [a] bottle of tequila” and a “woozy Madge” on March 16 proceeded “to stumble throughout the show.” But Madonna was not drinking nor got drunk during any of her Rebel Heart Tour shows. And the tabloid should have known that.

As Gossip Cop previously reported, during one of Madonna’s concert in Melbourne, she pulled out a bottle of what appeared to be vodka (not tequila), but even told the audience, “This isn’t even real.” And as for the allegation that she “stumbled” through her Brisbane concert, a misconception first floated by TMZ, Gossip Cop investigated, and Madonna danced the exact same fake stumbling move for months while performing “Like A Virgin.” A source involved in the production tells Gossip Cop, “Madonna has danced the same dance for the last seven months, and that is far from ‘stumbling.’”

In any event, Gossip Cop still went back to our sources to see whether there was any validity to the magazine’s story. We’re told that while Madonna is reasonably upset about the custody issue with Rocco, she 100 percent never got drunk on stage. A Madonna insider assures Gossip Cop the tabloid’s “melt down” claim is entirely “inaccurate.”

Sadly, that magazine has a poor track record when it comes to the singer. Gossip Cop busted the publication when it wrongly reported a couple of months ago that Madonna and Sean Penn were “getting married again.” We also crushed the outlet for its bogus story that Madonna and Diplo were in a “no-strings attached” relationship. Basically, Star’s sources are pretty off-key when it comes to Madonna.
