Madonna And Guy Ritchie Slammed By Judge For Not Settling Rocco Custody Battle
Madonna and Guy Ritchie were reprimanded by a New York City judge on Wednesday during a custody hearing for their 15-year-old son Rocco. The judge urged the ex-spouses to find their own amicable solution to the situation before making the court hear their full case.
As Gossip Cop has reported, Ritchie and Madonna, who divorced in 2008, have been engaged in an international custody battle since late last year when Rocco refused to leave London (where he’d been staying with his father), and return to New York to live with his mother. The singer later obtained a court order to legally force Rocco to live with her, but her son has not cooperated, and insists on living with his dad.
Madonna and Ritchie didn’t attend Wednesday’s hearing in person, but both parties phoned in while their lawyers represented them in court. The judge decided that Rocco, who has his own appointed attorney, will not be compelled to move back to New York at this time. The teen is currently enrolled in school in London, and Ritchie’s lawyers requested that the boy stay put to avoid disturbing his routine. The judge noted she would allow Rocco to have a say in where he lives. Madonna and Ritchie’s next court hearing is scheduled for June 1. Gossip Cop will have updates.
