It’s Official! Madonna to Perform Super Bowl Halftime Show (VIDEO)

Two months after Gossip Cop first reported that Madonna was going to be the halftime performer at Super Bowl XLVI, it’s official!
On Sunday night, during the Detroit Lions and New Orleans Saints game, NBC and the NFL announced that Madonna would the Super Bowl’s headlining act at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on February 5, 2012.

For her performance, Madonna will partner with a Cirque du Soleil creative team, choreographer Jamie King, and multimedia artists from Moment Factory.
The Super Bowl show was performed in 2011 by The Black Eyed Peas, while The Who did the honors the prior year.
Madonna is currently working on a new album for a spring 2012 release.
