Madonna Booed at W.E. London Premiere

Madonna, whose latest directorial effort, W.E., has received mixed reviews, was booed — before the film was even screened on Sunday at the 55th BFI London Film Festival.
Fans of Madonna, who had waited for hours in London’s Leicester Square to see the superstar, booed her after she only spent a brief time doing interviews on the red carpet and greeting a few fans.
She told Sky News amidst jeers, “I do know what it’s like to be misunderstood on a global scale,” comparing herself to the subject of the film, Wallis Simpson, the American divorcee whom King Edward VIII shockingly abdicated the throne to marry.
Madonna added that the controversial Simpson “didn’t have the chance to defend herself so I’m taking that opportunity now.”
