“Madea Halloween” Wins Box Office

Perry’s latest Madea offering, which has him once again playing the title character, was perfectly-timed for Halloween next weekend. And the movie landed on the top of the box office, earning $27.6 million. Coming in a close second place was Tom Cruise’s Jack Reacher sequel, which was his first and only movie release of 2016. That film sold a total of $23 million in tickets in its first week out. Securing third was the new horror flick Ouija: Origin of Evil, with $14.1 million. It narrowly edged out fourth place finisher, Ben Affleck’s The Accountant, with $14 million. Taking the fifth spot was The Girl On The Train, with $7.3 million.
Rounding out the Top 10 were Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children at number six with $6 million, while Keeping Up With The Joneses secured seventh place with a disappointing opening gross of $5.6 million. Kevin Hart: What Now? nabbed eighth with $4.1 million, and Storks took ninth with $4 million. Just making it into the Top 10 in the last position was Deepwater Horizon. It earned $3.6 million.
