Maddy Hudson, 16, Predicted To WIN American Idol — WATCH VIDEO!
Did the future “American Idol” winner just audition on Wednesday’s show? It seems like a distinct possibility after 16-year-old Maddy Hudson stunned the judges, and left them predicting she could win the whole season 14 competition. Watch below!
Hudson, who is from California, came to the San Francisco tryouts with her mom, whom she called her “best friend and my rock.” Explaining that middle school had been rough on her, the teen admitted, “Music is the only place where I fit in.” Well, she fit right in with Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, and Harry Connick, Jr., too. The contestant first wowed them with her exuberant personality and bold style. And then she sang Beyonce’s “Resentment,” and they were really in awe.
“That’s what we call a bait-and-switch!” exclaimed Lopez afterward, highlighting the contrast between Hudson’s upbeat chatter before singing, and then her emotional performance. The superstar went on, “You got the sad eyes and everything. I was with you. I was like, ‘Yes! Sing it!’ You were fantastic.”
The ecstatic Lopez went on, “I’ve had like 2 or 3 goosies this season — [now] my whole body… I love it…. I’m blown away right now. Really, you’re one of my favorites.” Urban was just as amazed, and movingly told Hudson, “I love everything that’s on the outside, but I really love what it’s covering up. And I heard and felt every bit of it.” Connick then went even further, saying, “You have all of the ingredients to really be a superstar.”
Hudson thought Connick was just being “nice,” but he insisted he wasn’t. The judge frequently called “Harsh Harry” told her, “I have to be as honest as I can be, and honestly, you exude star quality.” The panel then told her to go out and send all the other contestants home, and after she left, Lopez said, “I think she can win…. If she doesn’t go down in flames, she’s gonna win.” Wow! Check out the video below, and tell us what you think!
