Luke Bryan National Anthem Super Bowl Video: Watch ‘Star-Spangled Banner’ Performance!
Luke Bryan performed the national anthem before the New England Patriots faced off against the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI. Watch the singer belt out the “Star-Spangled Banner” in the video below!
Prior to the big game, Bryan took the field at NRG Stadium in Houston to help kick off the event. The country star announced the news of his historic gig on Twitter last week, and recently told reporters, “Through this process, I’ve kinda gone back through the years and watched how people approached the anthem, and just tried to figure out in my mind how I wanted to approach it.” He added, “It’s a big moment for me and I’m excited to get out there and hopefully put my stamp on it.”
Bryan follows in the footsteps of many big musicians who’ve performed the national anthem at the Super Bowl. Lady Gaga sang it last year for Super Bowl 50, and now she’ll be headlining the halftime show for this year’s game. Other singers who’ve had the honor of performing the “Star-Spangled Banner” include Billy Joel, Cher, Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys, and Garth Brooks. Interestingly, Bryan is the first male national anthem performer at the NFL championship game since Joel in 2007.
