Luke Bryan, Dierks Bentley ACM Awards Opening Video 2017 – Watch ACMs Monologue!
Luke Bryan and Dierks Bentley opened the 2017 ACM Awards on Sunday with quite the funny monologue. Watch below!
Prior to the formal opening, Bryan and Bentley were joined by Joe Walsh for a performance of “Johnny B. Goode” in honor of the late Chuck Berry, who died last month. “I gotta get my breath after that one,” Bryan announced afterward. He and Bentley then queued up an amusing highlight reel of their time in Las Vegas. It included a shirtless visit to “Thunder From Down Under.”
Bryan quipped, “I was a natural.” But, he learned that since he isn’t Australian, they wouldn’t hire him, while there’s a standing invitation for Keith Urban. “First Nicole and now this,” Bryan complained. “Screw you, Keith!” Bentley, meanwhile, reminded Bryan of some of their partying that he didn’t quite remember. Jokes about Pakistan and getting “roofied” followed.
This is Bryan and Bentley’s second year co-hosting the ACMs together. Bryan first started serving as the annual award show’s emcee in 2013, paired with close friend Blake Shelton. “Bluke,” as they’re known together, shared the job in 2014 and 2015, too.
Bentley came on in Shelton’s place in 2016. And at tonight’s 52nd Academy of Country Music Awards, he and Bryan aren’t just presiding over the ceremony. They’re also among the performers and nominees, too. Bentley is nominated for Male Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year (Black), and Vocal Event of the Year (“Different For Girls” with Elle King).
Bryan is up for the most coveted award, Entertainer of the Year. Interestingly, he managed to score a nod in that top category without getting any other nominations, and his last album, Kill The Lights, came out in 2015. But he remains a force in country music, and one of the genre’s biggest stars.
And there’s no doubt Bryan and Bentley will make this a very entertaining awards show. Check out full video of the opening below!
