Louis Tomlinson Sick, Sorry For Letting Fans Down At NRJ Music Awards
Louis Tomlinson is sick and apparently won’t be able to join his One Direction mates at Saturday’s NRJ Music Awards in Cannes, France. The singer tweeted, “Been sick all night. Still really unwell. Absolutely gutted!!. So sorry to let our fans down at NRJ. :( sorry :( hope the lads smash it !!” Within moments, #GetWellSoonLouis was trending worldwide on Twitter.
Hopefully, the media won’t sensationalize Tomlinson’s absence the way Zayn Malik’s absence from a “Today Show” concert in Florida last month led Matt Lauer to wonder whether “substance abuse” was the reason. Malik actually had a stomach virus, and both the band and its fans were annoyed by Lauer’s suggestion that there was a more scandalous explanation.
The boys of One Direction are the reigning International Duo/Group of the Year winners at the NRJ Music Awards. As of now, the other four band members have not commented about Tomlinson’s illness. They’ve been busy, appearing at the recent American Music Awards and the BBC Music Awards. Last week, Harry Styles adorably cuddled with Ian McKellen on “The Graham Norton Show.” He had his own stomach ailment in October, vomiting on the side of the freeway in Los Angeles. Fans memorialized the spot with a poster reading, “Harry Styles Threw Up Here.” Aww.
