Lorde performed “Yellow Flicker Beat” from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 at Sunday’s American Music Awards. The eccentric star started off performing in a box under a light that turned everything red before emerging for the arena’s audience to see her intense dance moves. Check out the video below!

As Gossip Cop reported, “Yellow Flicker Beat” was released in late September as the first single from the Mockingjay soundtrack, which Lorde curated entirely on her own. The video premiered earlier this month, coinciding exactly with the star’s 18th birthday. She and Kanye West went on to release a special remixed version of the song, which also appears on the soundtrack.

Lorde actually has a third song on the Mockingjay soundtrack, as well, called “Ladder Song.” She also selected music from Ariana Grande and Charli XCX to be on the album, both of whom are also American Music Awards performers. The timing of the AMAs performance is quite perfect, as Mockingjay just opened in theaters on Friday, and, as Gossip Cop reported, soared to the top of the box office with $123 million.

While the singer has performed “Yellow Flicker Beat” in public twice before, this performance marked the first time she was singing the song on television. She’s also nominated for three awards tonight, including Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist and Favorite Alternate Artist. Check out the performance video below!
