Lorde is writing an original song for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 soundtrack as well as handpicking the artists who will appear on the album.

“Curating the soundtrack for such a hotly-anticipated film was a challenge, but I jumped at the chance,” Lorde said in a statement. “The cast and story are an inspiration for all musicians participating and, as someone with cinematic leanings, being privy to a different creative process has been a unique experience.”

“I think the soundtrack is definitely going to surprise people,” noted the singer.

Lorde also tweeted the happy news writing, “I am so pleased and proud to have been announced the sole curator of the soundtrack for MOCKINGJAY – PART 1.”

The Grammy winner added, “Building this thing piece by piece has been amazing. I can’t wait to share the other artists’ contributions with you.”

The “Royals” singer previously covered Tears for Fears classic song “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” for the Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack in 2013.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 is slated for release on November 21.
