Lindsay Lohan: I’m Clean and Sober

VIDEO

(NBC)

Lindsay Lohan sat down with Matt Lauer on Tuesday, in her first TV interview since she appeared on the “Tonight Show” with Jay Leno last April.

The troubled actress opened up to the “Today” show host about getting her career back on track when her probation ends in March, promising, “I will not let anyone down.”

Lohan admitted that the last time she and Lauer chatted, she was in denial about her problems, saying, “I wasn’t as comfortable with myself then… I think it was a fear factor that I had about what was really going on. And, you know, I had to get that wakeup call.”

She tells Lauer the Hollywood party scene is “not my thing anymore,” explaining, “I went out, actually, a few months ago with a friend. And I was so uncomfortable. Not because I felt tempted, just because it was just the same thing that it always was before. And it just wasn’t fun for me. I’ve become more of a homebody. And I like that.”

Lohan, however, knows she still has a long way to go before she gains back the trust of industry professionals.

“I think that that’s gonna take– I think that takes time,” says Lohan, adding, “I still need to go through the process of proving myself.”

The Mean Girls star feels “really honored” to be playing Elizabeth Taylor in an upcoming Lifetime biopic, and assures Lauer, “I will not let anyone down, especially myself.”

“I could see where it could be scary for people to invest in me,” admits Lohan, explaining, “I don’t want people to have that reason to be scared anymore. So being able to have this opportunity with SNL and the film, I’m gonna do what I’m supposed to do, and enjoy doing it, and do it as best as I can.”

Lohan’s full “Today” show interview is set to air on Thursday, March 1.

So, so, SO happy for her!

I’m always going to think she’s getting back on track naturally because I’m a fan, but she really has shown so much progress up to this point, so as long as she gets everything good for the next court hearing, she can really turn her career around in a good way. Excited!

All I could think of was, “I will not let anyone down but what I really meant was. I won’t get caught this time”

Still. It’ll be nice when the media will stop shoving her on covers of tabloids over some silly drug/drama issue every week.

I look forward to her going back to her natural hair – without fake color or fake pieces added into it. I’m sick of all the fake stuff people do to themselves, it’s not pretty.

    I believe she’s very sincere!!

she’s a big liar. She’s been out a number of times just in the last few weeks.

  • Regina1180

She should worry less about pleasing other people and more about keeping herself on track.

I think she wants to do well, but that she wasn’t socialized with the kind of skills that are necessary to preserve herself. Unless she can overcome that programming, she will likely slide back. It sounds mean, but I think it’s realistic. Just being a struggling actress is stressful enough. Add to that trying to stay sober, and then being in the land of excess and what do you have? A recipe for failure. She would have to leave Hollywood and focus on her healing in order to gain my confidence.

i love LINDSAYLOHAN so much!!!! so proud of her…

  • sandy

She’s not really clean and sober if she were she would have the number of days/weeks/months etched in her brain. A true recoverying alcoholic/addict doesn’t beat around the bush and say “a long time now”. She would be proud and gladly give the amount of time clean. She’s lying!

I hope she’s not sincere about having stopped partying… She needs at least one huge party more when the probation ends. If I was her it would be important to me to make the statement that her – and her alone – gets to decide when to party and when not to party with a very clear and direct stab at the celebrity-hating judge who used every little thing to hit Lindsay harder all the time, way out of proportion compared to regular defendants. I mean she revoked Lindsay’s DUI probation based on two missed meetings, both more than adequately explained…

First was the lost/stolen passport. Even Lindsay isn’t allowed into the US without a passport so if you lose it, you can’t return home in time for a meeting. She would have been home 36 hours before the meeting but a temporary passport takes 48 hours to get, so despite being prepared for delayed flights etc. she still missed the meeting. But circumstances should explain things and excuse the missed meeting, right? – Nope. Not for Lindsay. The judge actually accused Lindsay of losing her passport on purpose and partying all night, leaving no time to look for the missing passport. I don’t know what is worse: Lack of basic knowledge of how the entertainment world works or that she trusted the words of the tabloid paps about mad partying at Cannes, but the fact is that it’s at the premiere afterparties that stuff are sold at these major film festivals. Well, they don’t sign any contracts there but they meet and greet, and if your star isn’t available your movie or tv-show just doesn’t get sold. It’s that simple. So Lindsay was contractually obligated to be there and to mingle and entertain the clients all night and that’s what she did. In the meantime someone stole her passport from her hotel room.

The second was the case of the improperly requested excuse for missing a mandated meeting. Nobody at the LA Courthouse had ever heard about a rule stating that you need to appear in person to apply for an excuse from a mandated meeting, so when you’re working halfway around the globe (Central Africa) and realize that you can’t be home in time, you need to return home (which you can’t do in time) to apply too late for permission to miss the meeting you just missed…? – Makes no sense and everybody, from lawyers to clerks at the Courthouse agreed that sending your lawyer with the documents should be more than enough as it was how it had been done a thousand times before… but not in Lindsay’s case. Nope. She had to appear in person, and as she failed to do so, she missed the meeting without permission and got punished for it.

When will she learn not to “open up” about her sobriety until she has some serious time under her belt. The last time I heard about Lohan she was on the cover of Vanity Fair saying the same thing. And two weeks after the issue came out she was back in jail.

Every addict IS and consequently it means nothing until they actually prove it with their deeds rather than their words..

  • Chris

Boy you sure hit the nail right on the center of the head with that comment – so so true! Well said! :)

  • Phweston0269

I am sorry to say that Im not optimistic about her recovery at this point. She sounded so vague when asked about her sobriety and changes in her lifestyle. Thats usually a sure sign she hasnt fully embraced being clean and sober. I hope I am wrong. She has so much potential and its a shame to see it wasted.

  • Ahahha

    Ms Lohan is a fake

  • Jennnifer

Don’t get too excited. She’s an addict. Addicts lie. It’s what they do. Any reformed addict I’ve known can tell you to the minute exactly how long they’ve been clean and sober. This girl dodged the question, going round and round, just saying “oh, it’s been a long while” or something to that effect. Red flag. In addict lingo, that’s “I’m straight this minute, for this interview, until I get out of here and get some privacy and a hook up.”
