Lindsay Lohan NOT Pitching ‘Mean Girls’ Sequel To Tina Fey, Despite Report
According to In Touch, Lohan wants Fey, who wrote the first film, to make a follow-up that would revolve around the careers of the four main characters. A so-called “source” tells the magazine, “It would be called Mean Women, and her character will head up a company where the other girls work.” The outlet’s questionable insider further claims Lohan believes this supposed sequel will be her big comeback, but “Tina told her that this film is never going to happen.” The “insider” adds, “But Lindsay’s refusing to give up hope! Lindsay is yearning to get back on the big screen.”
Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the situation, who exclusively assures us Lohan never pitched Fey a so-called Mean Women. We’re told no such film idea exists, nor has it ever been discussed, and the tabloid’s claim otherwise is simply “not true.” In fact, this isn’t the first time we’ve had to call out In Touch for wrongly reporting about an imaginary Mean Girls follow-up.
Gossip Cop previously corrected the tabloid in 2014 for wrongly reporting Fey and Lohan were planning a Mean Girls sequel, but there was no truth to the rumor, and obviously the movie never came to fruition. And despite the publication’s insistence on pushing this phony narrative, Mean Girls 2 a.k.a. Mean Women is no closer to getting made.
