REPORT: Lindsay Lohan to Sue Jewelry Store For Selling Surveillance Tape

(Getty Images)

Lindsay Lohan will reportedly sue the Kamofie & Company jewelry store for selling surveillance tape of the actress without her permission.

The star reportedly claims the boutique had no right to profit from her image.

Kamofie & Company reportedly made $40,000 for selling the tape to Entertainment Tonight for one week of exclusive use. When other media outlets pick up the footage after that period, the store stands to make even more money.

The store maintains that it had no choice but to sell the tape.

“We regret to hear there is trepidation by Miss Lohan in connection with the video,” a rep for Kamofie & Company tells TMZ.

“We hope that everyone understands that this is beyond our control, the flood of requests to see this video were simply too overwhelming. It was truly necessary to put it out.”

“Beyond our control” – really?

Gossip Cop has contacted Lohan’s people, and we will update when more information emerges.

And she should also sue em for Deformation of character and for filing false claims against her.

I would love to know what the DA has to say about this. I dont usually defend Lohan, but I thought this stunk from the very beginning. And the sale of the tape just proves that its about the money for these people. They say it was out of thier control, how about you say no?

I think you mean, defamation of character, which given Lindsay’s past history could be difficult for her to prove.
The issue of false claims would more than likely have to be addresses by the LA County Attorney’s office,as in “filing a false police report”.
Lindsay, however might have an issue with the DA and Sheriff’s office for “False Arrest”, if she could prove that the claims against her were false and that the DA and Sheriff were aware that there was no real basis for her arrest. That, however, would be even more difficult to prove. So the best thing Lindsay can do is hope that these actions on the part of the jewelry store’s owners are enough to get the charge of Grand Larceny, thrown out of court.
If she indeed does get through this without any jail time or another black mark against her, she will need to be very mindful of every single action because it is very apparent that the legal system in California is tired of her shenanigans and means to incarcerate her for any future infractions.
Sadly, they cannot incarcerate her parents as accessories to her many crimes and misdemeanors. They truly deserve jail time for the many issues they have caused Lindsay to be involved in with their feelings of entitlement and their flapping jaws. I feel very sorry for her younger brother and sister because they are completely under the influence and control of White Oprah and her irrationalities.

So agree with you Phil Robinson especially about Lindsay’s parents. I have a question for you. If Lindsay really can sue for using her image without her permission and profiting from it why then couldn’t all celebrities sue the paparazzi and the tabloids who buy the pictures they take and profit from them without the celebrities permission?

This sale and the announcement of the auction of the necklace, once they get it back form the police, just proves that these people are a disgusting opportunists. I’m not usually a supporter of celebs who get away with breaking the law, but in this case I think Lindsey is telling the truth.

“Beyond our control, the flood of requests to see this video were simply too overwhelming. It was truly necessary to put it out.” Keep telling yourself that. I seriously hope you made a enough money to account for tanking your business.
I live near the store, and everyone I have talked to have said that they would never purchase anything from the store again. No one wants to deal with these kind of people or support them.

My big question for the whole thing is if she actually stole the necklace and they knew she did it why did they wait so long to try and get it back.
