Lindsay Lohan Begging To Star In Tina Fey’s ‘Mean Girls’ Musical?
Tina Fey is currently working on a stage adaptation of Mean Girls, and now a tabloid claims the film’s star, Lindsay Lohan, is begging for a role in the upcoming musical. Gossip Cop looked into the report. See what we found out here!
Fey, who wrote and co-starred in the 2004 teen comedy, is adapting her own screenplay into a musical version that’s scheduled to premiere this October at the National Theatre in Washington, D.C. On the heels of that news, the National Enquirer published an article this week claiming Lohan is gunning to appear in the stage production as schoolteacher Ms. Norbury, the character played by Fey in the movie.
The magazine goes on to quote a supposed insider as saying that the former “Saturday Night Live” star was “dumbstruck” by Lohan’s plea, and allegedly told another producer, “Even if we could get Lindsay to show up on time for live performances, I can’t even begin to picture her playing me!” Was the tabloid tapping Fey’s phone when it got that very pointed quotation? Or was one of its reporters hiding in Fey’s kitchen garbage and overheard it?
Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to Fey, who dismissed the article as untrue. Additionally, a rep for Lohan exclusively tells us the tabloid’s story is entirely “false,” and the actress never petitioned for a role in the Mean Girls musical. In fact, this isn’t the first time the Enquirer has published fake news around the hit movie. Gossip Cop recently busted the magazine for falsely claiming that Fey was planning a big-screen Mean Girls sequel without Lohan. This latest report about the musical adaptation is equally bogus.
