Lindsay Lohan Celebrates “Mean Girls Day” On October 3rd (VIDEO)
Lindsay Lohan is celebrating “Mean Girls Day,” which falls each year on October 3.
As fans of the seminal teen movie know, one of the most oft-quoted lines of the film comes from a brief scene where the date is given (see video below). In the years since, social media has become flooded with “It’s October 3rd” memes on that date. Saturday is October 3, 2015, and this year is no exception.
By the early morning, “#MeanGirls” had become the top trending topic in the United States, and the hashtag is trending worldwide, too. Lohan recognized the special day with an Instagram post featuring a photo of herself from the film (see above). “It’s October 3rd FYI #meangirlsday,” she wrote in the caption. And, coincidentally or not, ABC Family is airing the movie twice on Saturday night.
As Gossip Cop has reported, the Mean Girls cast reunited just last year for a special Entertainment Weekly retrospective 10 years after the film’s release. And though nothing is actually in the works, Lohan has expressed interest in making a sequel. “I was with Tina Fey the other day and I said we should do another Mean Girls, like an older version where they’re all housewives and they’re all cheating,” the star said in an interview a year ago.
“That would be really funny. I’ll harass Tina to write it,” Lohan added. The harassment apparently hasn’t paid off so far, but maybe today’s October 3 jokes will. A mean girl can dream, right?
