Lindsay Lohan: “I Am Very Honored” to Play Elizabeth Taylor in Lifetime Movie

Lindsay Lohan says she’s “very honored” to play Elizabeth Taylor in an upcoming Lifetime movie.

Liz & Dick, which was officially announced on Monday, will focus on the legendary screen icon’s tempestuous relationship with actor and two-time husband Richard Burton.

“I have always admired and had enormous respect for Elizabeth Taylor.  She was not only an incredible actress but an amazing woman as well,” Lohan says in a statement.

Rob Sharenow, Lifetime’s vice president of programming adds, “We are thrilled Lindsay will portray beloved Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor.”

“She is one of the rare actresses who possesses the talent, beauty and intrigue to capture the spirit of such a provocative icon,” he continues.

Filming is set to begin in June.

    Taylor wasn’t that much of an actress – aparrt for a few roles. Get over it. She became a gay icon and that is where she became famous.

    Some people are just very quick to judge and for some reason, have the need to be nasty to anyone who is trying to get their life together. how sad. Why not encourage a person and if they do what you think they will then, throw them under the bus. But give them a chance. I think Lindsay will be good in this role and how rediculous to think Liz would have negative input. She was a person who gave second chances and yes she did a lot for AIDS victims and she supported gay rights but so do a lot of celebrities, does that make them all icons? She became famous because she spent a lifetime being a great actress.
