Lin-Manuel Miranda “Moana” Interview On “GMA” – WATCH VIDEO!
Lin-Manuel Miranda opened up about the making of Moana in an interview broadcast on Friday’s “GMA.” Watch below!
As Gossip Cop has reported, the new Disney movie, which opened in theaters in time for the Thanksgiving holiday, features music composed by Miranda himself. “So surreal,” he says of being asked to work on the film. “And it was also — it happened to be the same week [I] found out we were having a baby, so it happened to be a life-changing week.”
That’s probably an understatement. Miranda created the songs at the same time as he worked on Hamilton, leading him to tell Lara Spencer, “Moana was such a lovely break from writing Hamilton. It was like, ‘Okay, I’m not going to worry about the Founding Fathers right now. I’m going to go spend some time with Moana or spend some time with Maui and write those songs.'”
And now he has something more age-appropriate to offer his 2-year-old son. “I hope [the film] teaches him to be brave and to be courageous and to fight for the things that really matter to him,” said Miranda. He also fondly reflected on writing for the flick’s star Dwayne Johnson, also known as “maybe the most charming person alive.”
As Gossip Cop previously reported, Miranda also spoke about Moana and the Hamilton documentary on “Good Morning America” last month. Check out the new video below!
