Lil Wayne Explodes, Blames Tha Carter V Delay On Cash Money: “I Am A Prisoner”
Lil Wayne apologized to his fans and slammed his record label for delaying the release of his album Tha Carter V in an explosive Twitter rant on Thursday. The rapper, whose album was set to be released this month, expressed frustration with Cash Money co-founder Birdman (also known as Baby) and said he feels like a “prisoner.”
He tweeted, “To all my fans, I want u to know that my album won’t and hasn’t been released bekuz Baby & Cash Money Rec. refuse to release it. This is not my fault. I am truly and deeply sorry to all my fans but most of all to myself and my family for putting us in this situation.”
Lil Wayne added, “I want off this label and nothing to do with these people but unfortunately it ain’t that easy. I am a prisoner and so is my creativity Again,I am truly sorry and I don’t blame ya if ya fed up with waiting 4 me & this album. But thk u.”
There’s been no response yet from Cash Money. The singles “Believe Me,” “Krazy” “Start a Fire” and “Grindin'” have been released ahead of Tha Carter V. It’s not clear when the rest of the album will ever be heard. Gossip Cop will have updates.
