Lil’ Kim Drops Out Of Essence Festival Performance With Puff Daddy And Family
Lil’ Kim will no longer be performing alongside Puff Daddy and The Family at this weekend’s Essence Festival in New Orleans. The rapper announced on Friday that she’s dropping out of the concert “due to unfilled business obligations.”
Kim was set to take the mainstage with the group on Sunday night, but a rep for the rapper has released a statement saying, “It’s with much regret that we announce that multi-platinum selling recording artist, Lil’ Kim will not be performing with Puff Daddy and Her Family at this year’s Essence Music Festival due to unfilled business obligations.”
The rapper’s prior commitments weren’t revealed, but the statement further expressed that Kim is “saddened by this news but matters are not within her control.” It continued, “Lil’ Kim would like to thank Essence for the opportunity and her fans for their continued support of the Lil’ Kim brand and looks forward to being at next year’s Essence Music Festival in 2017.”
Faith Evans, Mase and French Montana are among the other artists slated to join Puff Daddy and The Family at the Essence Festival, while Kim is still expected to perform with the group during the Bad Boy Reunion Tour in August. Also participating in separate events at the Essence Festival are Mariah Carey and Kendrick Lamar, as well as Oprah Winfrey and Al Sharpton, both of whom will deliver speeches.
