Liam Payne On Zayn Malik Leaving One Direction: “Both Parties Are Winners”
Appearing on “Good Morning Britain” on Wednesday, Payne said, “One Direction was never really Zayn’s kind of bag, if you know what I mean. His taste in music’s a bit different. And I guess that’s kind of what drove him to do what he did in the end, which is not necessarily a bad thing.”
“Everyone’s come out fine from it, thanks to our beautiful fans. He’s off doing what he loves as well,” Payne continued. “Both parties are winners in the end of a disaster of a situation. So, it’s all good.”
Louis Tomlinson sat silently and stone-faced next to Payne as his band mate made the remarks, but nodded his head when Payne complimented their fans, and added that they are “amazing.” As Gossip Cop has reported, Malik left One Direction in late March, and Directioners have been marking the exact date each month ever since. There seems to be three distinct camps: Fans who have moved on from Malik’s departure, fans who remain committed to the group but still upset, and fans who have decided to focus on only his new career.
The true tests, though, are still to come. One Direction’s first album sans Malik, Made In The A.M., will be released next month, while he’s hard at work on his first solo record. How successful either effort will be remains to be seen. Check out video of Panye’s comments below, and tell us what you think.
