Liam Payne Poses For Attitude (PHOTOS)
Liam Payne is the cover star for the October issue of Attitude magazine. See right and below.
The outlet, which describes itself as the “UK’s best selling gay magazine,” has created what its calling two “collectible covers” featuring the One Direction member. Both are close-up portraits of Payne’s handsome face, and they each have the same exact cover line. Touting a “World Exclusive,” the Attitude covers say, “Liam Payne On His Wild Nights, Gay Rights, And Why Homophobia Should Be A Thing Of The Past.”
The covers’ release comes less than 24 hours after Payne first announced he shot a spread for the magazine. In a video shared on Wednesday, he encouraged fans to check it out. No interview quotes have been revealed yet, and the issue won’t hit newsstands until September 16, but limited copies are available to be ordered online worldwide.
It marks one of the first times a One Direction singer has posed solo for a magazine cover. And Payne’s choice to work with Attitude is further noteworthy because he has been twice accused of homophobia. As Gossip Cop reported last year, after Payne said he had “big respect” for “Duck Dynasty” star Willie Robertson’s “family values,” many interpreted the tweet as an endorsement of the clan’s anti-gay views.
Payne angrily ranted about the situation, and ended up having to defend himself again just last month when he made a comment at a One Direction comment that some thought was exclusionary toward the LGBT community. “I am in no way shape or form homophobic that’s a ridicules [sic] thing to say and I’m not here to offend people so take it as you will,” he wrote on Twitter afterward, as Gossip Cop noted at the time.
It remains to be seen if Payne’s Attitude interview will address either controversy, but the magazine promises, “Liam talks about keeping his cool in the spotlight, his appreciation for his LGBT fans and what the future holds for the world’s biggest boy band now they’re a four-piece.” Check out the covers and video below, and tell us what you think.
