Liam Neeson’s New York City home was swarmed by animal activists on Saturday, protesting his stance on horse-drawn carriages.
The actor has been vocal in his support of keeping the centuries-old Central Park tradition, earning the ire of PETA and other animal rights’ groups.
An estimated 50 protesters picketed outside his Upper West Side building with signs that read “Liam Neeson: Stop Supporting Cruelty.”
Mayor Bill de Blasio has vowed to ban the horse-and-carriage practice, believing the animals aren’t treated humanely, while Neeson argues there’s nothing unhealthy about their conditions or their jobs.
“Neeson and his carriage cronies — who are working with horse-slaughter proponents — are willfully misleading the public about the routine cruelty that horses in New York’s carriage industry endure,” PETA Senior Vice President Dan Mathews tells Gossip Cop in a statement.
Other stars, such as Lea Michele, Pink, and Peter Dinklage, agree with PETA, advocating for the ban in the video below.
A for Neeson tells Gossip Cop he has no comment on the protest.
