Liam Neeson: Wife Natasha Richardson’s Death Still Doesn’t Feel “Real” (VIDEO)
Liam Neeson opens up about his final moments with his wife Natasha Richardson in a new interview, five years after the actress died following a skiing accident.
Speaking with Anderson Cooper for “60 Minutes,” the movie star recalls, “I was told she was brain dead… she was on life support… I went in to her, and I told her I loved her, said, ‘Sweetie, you’re not coming back from this, you’ve banged your head.'”
“She and I had made a pact, if any of us got into a vegetative state that we’d pull the plug,” says Neeson. “So when I saw her, that was my immediate thought: ‘Okay, these tubes have to go. She’s gone.'”
The tragedy took a while to sink in, and in some ways never did.
“[Her death] was never real,” says Neeson. “It still kind of isn’t.”
The full interview will air on Sunday.
