Leonardo DiCaprio NOT “Seriously Considering” Playing James Bond
Leonardo DiCaprio is NOT “seriously considering” playing James Bond, despite a report from one of the tabloids that speculates he will replace Daniel Craig. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk the claim.
The story can be found in the pages of OK!, which declares, “Leo: The Next Bond!” The magazine claims “it was a topic of discussion at the Governors Ball following the Academy Awards, where a tipster heard Michael Keaton, who played Batman for Tim Burton, jokingly tell Leo he should do a superhero movie; and while the star demurred on donning a cape, he admitted he’s been offered the role of the next 007.”
“Leo said he’s seriously considering it,” a so-called “spy” alleges to the outlet. “The thought of all the cool gadgets, gunplay and chase scenes excites him, and at this point in his career, he’s ready to take a gamble.” OK! even adds, “The legendary Bond girls, of course, would just be the cherry on top.”
But this supposed casting is entirely off-base. To begin with, Craig hasn’t even confirmed for sure whether he’ll leave the franchise, even though he’s contracted to do one more film. But more importantly, DiCaprio is not in any talks for taking over the iconic part.
A source close to the new Oscar winner exclusively tells Gossip Cop that the allegations are “not true.” Of course, OK! doesn’t exactly have a great record when it comes to DiCaprio (and many others). In January, for instance, we busted the tabloid for falsely claiming he was looking to date Jennifer Lawrence, and last October, we corrected a story wrongly alleging he was engaged to Kelly Rohrbach.
Spoiler alert: DiCaprio is not with Lawrence or Rohrbach, and he’s not suiting up to play Bond, either.
