The story gaining lots of coverage is the one about Leonardo DiCaprio needing to lose lots of weight.

It all started in a RadarOnline piece titled “Leonard DiCaprio Dieting To Get In Fighting Shape,” which was then picked up everywhere, in particular the British tabloids and the blogs. According to RadarOnline, DiCaprio has been told by the filmmakers of “Inception,” which he’s shooting now, that he “needs to shed at least 30lbs.”

The site further quotes a supposed on-set source saying, “He’s gained weight recently and looks almost a bit flabby, which isn’t good, especially as the camera adds pounds . . . There’s an action scene coming up at the end of the year in which he needs to appear emaciated, so the pressure is on.”

Actually, this story carries no weight. The star, who is far from fat, has not been asked to drop 30 pounds, says a source close to the film, who dismissed such rumors as “b.s.”
