Lego Movie Massive “Block”-Buster Debut
The Lego Movie is a real “block”-buster.
The animated film, based on the beloved toy brand, opened its first weekend at the box office with $69.1 million in ticket sales.
Coming in second was the star-studded World War II drama The Monuments Men with $22.7 million.
And nabbing third was Ride Along with $9.3 million.
Family-friendly Frozen and That Awkward Moment took fourth and fifth places with $6.9 million and $5.5 million, respectively.
Rounding out the Top 10 were Lone Survivor ($5.3 million), Vampire Academy ($4.1 million), The Nut Job ($3.8 million), Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit ($3.6 million), and Labor Day ($3.2 million).
