Reese Witherspoon Mourns Death Of ‘Legally Blonde’ Dog Bruiser
Reese Witherspoon is mourning the death of her Legally Blonde canine co-star Bruiser. On Friday, she revealed the dog died at the age of 18.
On Instagram, Witherspoon wrote, “With a sad heart, I have to let all the #LegallyBlonde fans know that Bruiser Woods (also known as Moonie) passed away yesterday.” Alongside a photo of herself as Elle Woods with the dog, the actress added, “He was a sweet little Chihuahua who was very loved. I will never forget all the days we spent together … I’m sure his tail is wagging in the sky. Sending love to his trainer, the wonderful @tailsticks #RIPBruiser.”
Moonie’s trainer, Sue Chip, also remembered the pint-sized big screen star. Next to a photo of the dog with Witherspoon on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Chip wrote on Instagram, “On this day – a day of ‘throwbacks’ I give you one of the greatest little dogs…’Moonie’ of Legally Blonde fame. I’m sad to say that this morning in Los Angeles he left us. He was a whopping 18 years old. I remember the day I brought him home as a puppy.”
Moonie first appeared with Witherspoon in 2001 and then again in 2003’s Legally Blonde: Red White & Blonde. In the sequel, the adorable Chihuahua played an integral part of the movie’s plot about the cosmetics industry’s use of animal testing.
