Lea Thompson Receives Near Perfect Score On Dancing With the Stars – WATCH VIDEO
Lea Thompson impressed the judges with an emotional contemporary routine dedicated to her late father on Monday’s “Dancing With the Stars.”
During rehearsals, Thompson said her dad “was the coolest guy in the history of the universe.” She noted, “He always encouraged me and he called me his little dancer. In 2003, Thompson’s father was diagnosed with cancer. She said, “I wanted one more year with him, and I only had a week.” She recalled that on Christmas that year, her dad picked himself up off of the couch and started dancing with her. “The way he died taught me how to live,” she explained.
The Back to the Future actress and her partner Artem Chigvintsev celebrated Thompson’s most memorable year by honoring the last dance she had with her dad. “I will remember that dance forever because you danced like an angel,” said Carrie Ann Inaba. Bruno Tonioli told Thompson she was an “exquisite” performer. Julianne Hough said she was moved by the dance, calling the performance “flawless.”
For the first time in “Dancing With the Stars” history, fans were able to vote alongside the judges, and America gave Thompson a 9 out of 10. The voters turned out to be harsher scorers than Inaba, Tonioli and Hough, who all gave the actress a 10. Thompson and Chigvintsev received a nearly perfect score of 39 out of 40.
