Lea Michele Cosmo Cover Upsets Some Parents – Should It?

(Cosmopolitan)

Lea Michele is again too sexy for some concerned parents.

The “Glee” star appears on the cover of the March 2011 Cosmopolitan, baring skin in a low-cut top.

Now some fans’ parents are condemning the choice, claiming that “as an actress who plays a high school student on a TV show watched largely by teen and pre-teen viewers,” Michele has a responsibility to keep things chaste.

The actress has been at the center of controversy before.

Back in October, Michele and her co-star Dianna Agron were criticized for their GQ photo shoot. Provocative shots of the duo romping in a school setting upset parents who felt the spread bordered on “pedophilia.”

The March 2011 Cosmo cover is less risque, and Michele is a 24-year-old adult woman – not a teenager – posing for a magazine marketed to other adult women.

But as long as her fan base skews young, covers like this one are likely to generate controversy in some corners.

What do you think about Michele’s Cosmo cover?

Exactly! it’s marketed for adult women. I know it’s on the news stands and everyone can see it but I think that parents should be responsible enough to educate their kids on what the difference between tv and reality. I’m sure she was aware of the hoopala that was going to happen as a 20+ yo portraying a HS student.

I think it’s no freakin different with her playing the part she does & the part that Miley Cyrus was play as Hannah Montana. You know you have all these young girls looking up to you. If you don’t want to act appropriate enough for the dam* part, then don’t play the dam* part!!! I think she thinks it’s ok to teach all these young girls to dress like a tramp & show off their body to get attention- but it’s NOT ok! If she wants to parade around looking like the skank she is, then she needs to be replaced- PERIOD! My kids will NEVER watch this show, because of her!

Cindy Wallace she is not dressed like a tramp. And if you took the time instead of being so judgemental and read the article you would see that Lea Michele says she never did drugs becausee her career comes first, she is a relationship kind of girl and she is proud of her body. All things that should be appalled. This picture is nothing, it shows nothing but some skin. If your children are not mature enough to know the difference between a actress and a fictional character than no they should not be watching a show that is rated PG 14.

Cindy get off your high horse and stop being so judgemental you are not modeling well for your chidlren.

If I wasn’t so happily lazy, I’d stalk her.

First of all, Lea only PLAYS a high school girl on tv. She is a grown woman and is free to pose however she chooses. It’s up to parents to teach their kids the difference between real and make believe.

With that said, I think they are making way too big a deal about this. Shes a beautiful woman posing for a magazine that shouldn’t be in the hands of younger girls anyway. Beside, shes not wearing anything that crazy sexy. You see worse than on some people at wal-mart.

I say, go get it, Lea Michele.

  • MissZee

r u kidding me? parents are complaining about this? why would you let a 14 yr old read this??

  • MrsBrendaP

Like the article says, she is a 24 year old WOMAN on the cover of a magazine for WOMEN. At the end of the day it’s a parent’s responsibility to know what their children are watching and to regulate the shows they watch. If you don’t think she’s a good role model then don’t let your kids watch her but you can’t criticize her for being a beautiful actress posing on the cover a magazine. She’s an adult, get over it.

  • msbrigemichele

seriously. she was in spring awakening and you saw a whole lot more than this. this magazine is for women. if you’re child looks at it, that’s your fault not hers. GO LEA!

Parents are concerned about their children seeing Lea Michele dressed provocatively in COSMO?! Cosmopolitan Magazine is one that is aimed towards adult women. Why would a parent allow their child too buy it/look through it to begin with?

Also, the actors & actresses who play the parts of these teens in “Glee” are all 20+ years old. If a parent or their child doesn’t know how to decipher the difference between a character and a real person, than no – they shouldn’t be watching the show.

“Glee” is not, and has never been geared towards 7-year-olds, in my opinion. It’s mainly a show about high school kids, geared towards teens and adults. It’s rated PG 14. I only allow my 4-year-old to listen to the music because the dialogue & storylines are *not* geared towards young children. That has always been obvious, as far as I am concerned.

Parents need to get over it. There are provocatively dressed women on almost every magazine, on almost every TV channel, and all over the internet. If you don’t want your kids to see it, than get a parental control. This is the year 2011. Adults model in sexy clothing sometimes, and that is what Lea is. AN ADULT! A 24-YEAR-OLD ADULT. Deal with it.

People just LOOK for shit to be offended about! Amazing. Drama queens…

Lets get serious here. If you’re offended by this cover, you shouldn’t be letting your child watch Glee anyway. Instead of blaming Lea for your child not watching a show geared towards teens & adults and calling her things like “skank” and “tramp,” why don’t you grow up and act like the responsible parent you’re trying so hard to come across as. It is your responsibility to raise your child, not Lea’s, not Cosmo’s, not Glee’s. If you don’t feel that your children should see this? Fine. These things are not meant for your children anyway & if they see it & become influenced by it, that’s your fault. And if you’d get past your judgmental attitude long enough to flip to the actual article, you might realize that nothing Lea says in it is inappropriate or damaging. The fact that she never did drugs & doesn’t sleep around & is proud of her body are all great messages for young kids in this day & age to be honest. And I’m going to assume your children have never been to a beach or a local pool, because those bathing suits? NOT EVEN CLOSE to being more revealing that your typical two piece. Get real lady & quit trying to start drama.

First of all Lea Michele is a very sexy young lady! She and her Glee cast are riding a huge high on being the most wanted … so why shouldn’t she be able to do what she wants to …. to keep her career going … hey she’s not posing here for playboy or anything like that!!!

  • MissZee

even if she were posing for Playboy, she’s a grown adult…children, shouldn’t even be looking in that mag either

  • leonard carr

you don’t see anything you would’nt see if she was wearing a bikini. michele and dianna are very easy on the eyes. i wish they had shown a little more!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Duke-Brady/100000034621671 Duke Brady

I think the problem is she’s ugly and ugly women should not take their clothes off in public. Didn’t Rosanne teach everyone that lesson?

  • melissa

I agree with the first paragraph, she has teens and pre-teens, and even young kids watching her, and Glee, she has responsibilities also, COVER UP, no one want to see your breast, your teaching kids a bad things, and things what not to do. i like Glee, but i don’t like how shes behaving. So grow up and be a young mutrer adult.

please im just a kid myself im 12 and i love glee i watch it all the time, Lea michele is a beautiful and confident woman and she’s my role-model i dont care about a magazine cover i feel she looks amazing and if i walked past this in a shop i would look at it just because shes on the cover i wouldnt buy it but i also wouldnt care that shes showing of some of HER OWN BODY, i no its just a magazine cover and i dont walk around like that an either does lea she occaisonly shows a bit of skin on the red carpet but so what shes a great role model and me and all my friends look up to her alot

  • Lee Wright

I think it’s completely ridiculous how far they are bringing it out. Im a 15 year old and this has no bad effect on me what so ever. It actually inspires me to workout to hope to have a abode like her heb I am her age. I also am a big fan of the show and love how contradicting her and her character, Rachel Berry, are with one another. It just proves how amazing of an actress she is. They should let her do her when she I off set. Now if she did things like this on the set of Glee, then I would be able to understand. But, because it’s off set and it’s Lea Michelle and not Rachel Berry, I think they are blowing this magazine cover way out if proportion.
