Lauren Bacall Dead at 89
Lauren Bacall is dead.
The legendary actress was 89.
She suffered a massive stroke at her home on Tuesday.
Bacall first rose to fame as Humphrey Bogart’s leading lady, beginning with To Have and To Have Not in 1944.
The screen stars, who appeared together in films such as The Big Sleep, were married from 1945 until Bogart’s death in 1957.
Together they had two children, and Bacall went on to have a third with second husband Jason Robards.
Bacall’s storied film career also included Key Largo, How to Marry a Millionaire, and Designing Woman.
She won a Golden Globe for The Mirror Has Two Faces, but lost the Oscar in the same year.
The former model received also Tony Awards in 1970 and 1981, for Applause and Woman of the Year respectively.
Her iconic career and passing have led to an outpouring of tributes from Hollywood.
